Who are we and our aims
We are Master’s students at Sciences Po Paris, France, and we all come from complementary academic backgrounds (engineering, journalism, economics). This project is the result of a collective work we carried out through the course Mapping controversies in the Energy Sector. Tomamso Venturini & Thomas Tari , both teachers of the course, suggest the students to form a group and choose, analyze and present with a website a specific issue, and in particular how factors and actors interact.
We selected the Ocean Iron Fertilization theme because it was a way to present this quite unknown but critical global issue, involving a wide range of actors, ranging from scientists in the first place, to journalists and officials.
We wanted to focus on the significant role public opinion can have on this issue, which deals first of all with information, awareness and sometimes transparency concerns : this explains why we decided to shape the website as a civic forum in which each net surfer is able to :
Our aim is to give tools to the general public. We sincerely hope we have managed to reach this goal.
We thank Tomasso Venturini & Thomas Tari for all the support they gave us. Of course we also thank the interviewees Nils Markusson, Dan Whaley , Richard Lampitt, Aaron Strong, Denis Delbecq, Jason McNamee, Clive Hamilton for having shared their precious knowledge on ocean iron fertilization and geoengineering, which definitely enrich our collective and individual approach.
Don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.

- get easily informed on the general dynamic of the oceanic carbon cycle, and on the controversy timeline;
- listen and read opinions of 8 experts we interviewed;
- and eventually the most important, shape his/her own opinion through raw data.
Our aim is to give tools to the general public. We sincerely hope we have managed to reach this goal.
